A few practical answers for the most common file and export problems.

Free and Pro file limits

Free accepts one source file up to 1 GB. Pro accepts up to 200 files totaling 20 GB. The Pro edition is a private subscription preview; subscriptions are not on sale.

The sample archive

Use Try a sample archive on the main page to run a small illustrative mailbox through the same converter. It includes plain text, an HTML-only message, an encoded subject, and a small attachment. In Pro, enable Attachments manifest to try the complete ZIP export, including the contact list.

My file is a ZIP, TGZ, PST, OST, or MSG

Extract ZIP and TGZ backups first. Choose the actual MBOX or EML files inside. PST, OST, and MSG need a separate conversion to MBOX or EML.

The browser reports a memory limit

Standard mode limits the main CSV output to 256 MB and the attachment manifest to 64 MB. Input size and output size are different: large attachments can make the source much larger than the CSV.

In Pro on desktop Chrome or Edge, enable Large-file mode under More export options to write the main CSV directly to disk. Attachment manifests still have a memory limit, and each individual email is limited to 64 MB. If needed, export a smaller mailbox or remove very large messages before converting.

My messages are missing from the export

Check sender and date filters, and whether Skip duplicate Message IDs is enabled. Date filters use UTC calendar dates. A message without a readable date is excluded when a date filter is active.

The result reports filtered, duplicate, unreadable, and truncated message counts. Preview search only searches the displayed preview records: up to 25 for Free and 100 for Pro. The downloaded file contains every matching row.

The message body is empty

Enable Message body before converting. Text/plain parts are preferred, with HTML converted to text as a fallback. Encrypted, damaged, or unsupported message bodies may have no readable text. Body text is limited to 32,000 characters per message.

I cannot find the download

Use Download CSV after conversion, or ZIP bundle in Pro. Your browser chooses the download location. In large-file mode, the main CSV is saved to the location you selected before conversion; the attachment manifest downloads separately.

My columns are all in one spreadsheet cell

Import the file using your spreadsheet application's text or CSV import option. Choose the same separator used by the converter: comma, semicolon, or tab. Leave Excel-friendly UTF-8 encoding enabled to help preserve non-English characters.

Conversion paused on my phone

Keep the converter tab open while it is running. Mobile operating systems can pause background tabs. For larger archives, use a desktop browser with enough memory and free storage.
